Jim was the illegitimate son of Oswald. He was brought to England from the Western front and brought up by Annie Verena, Oswald's sister. The identity of Jim's mother (French? Belgian?) is a complete mystery. The fact of Jim's relationship to the Bonds was a closely guarded family secret. Even Oswald's other children had no idea until after Jim's death.
